Summary of IIHHS Faculty & Research
Faculty are the lifeblood of the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services at James Madison University.
Why? Because the IIHHS focuses on an integrated model of health and human service education that embraces teaching/learning, research, and service.
None of this happens without faculty—particularly faculty members with a vision.
The Institute’s role is to help cultivate this vision.
To do so, the Institute responds to the strengths, assets and interests of faculty across James Madison University who have (or want to have) a stake in health and human service education and community initiatives.
How does this happen?
The Institute is primarily facilitative, not administrative. This flexibility provides a wide range of faculty opportunities to initiate and become involved in Institute programs and activities that match their strengths and interests.
And since Institute initiatives are
- cross-disciplinary
- focus on communication, collaboration and educational relevance; and
- seek to enrich health and human service teaching, learning, research and service
the Institute provides an ideal environment for faculty members’ personal and professional growth, development and achievement.
The Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services at James Madison University can point to many successful accomplishments since it was established in 2001. We are also well on the way to more accomplishments and successes in the upcoming months and year ahead.
However, we recognize our accomplishments and successes are only possible through the active participation and commitment of faculty from colleges across the university.
As a JMU faculty member, please consider joining your peers and colleagues in the Institute in these and in new health and human service initiatives that have not yet been considered or developed.
The Institute welcomes your thoughts, ideas and participation. We welcome you.
