Academic Requirements
The following are general/ composite requirements for schools of pharmacy; please consult individual schools for specific requirements:
- Biology - 8 credit hours
- General Chemistry - 8 credit hours
- Organic Chemistry - 8 credit hours
- Physics - 8 credit hours
- English - 6 credit hours
- Mathematics* - 6 credit hours
- Statistics - 3 credit hours
- Electives** - 18 credit hours
NOTE: All science courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) must include a laboratory with each lecture. * At least 3 semester hours need to be from calculus. ** Some schools of pharmacy, e.g., Mercer University, are more specific in elective courses. For example, at Mercer, 9 hours of humanistic electives and 9 hours of social/ behavioral sciences electives make up the 18 elective hours. Some schools require economics as 3 credit hours of the 18 elective hours.
